After watching the movie at the Visitor's Center, we made a beeline over to the Backcountry office to see what options we might have for experiencing the bottom of the canyon. To our surprise, there was both tent camping at Bright Angel campground and space available at the legendary Phantom Ranch. We had a choice: stay in air-conditioned rustic cabins at Phantom Ranch, or stay in tents. Keep in mind: the bottom is the hottest place in the area. Believe it or not, if you include mule duffle service, the costs are the same. Phantom Ranch! We hustled over the Bright Angel lodge to book it.
We boondocked in a great spot (I'll provide grid coordinates later).
After dinner, we watched the sundown from the Grand View observation area.
Would it be wierd for your neighbors to say that they wish they were with you?? Beacause we really, really, do!!!!
