We arrived before the Visitor's Center opened on the Colorado side. So we decided to go to the Utah portion of Dinosaur National Park. In the fall of 2011, they opened a new center at a famous Morrison dig site.
The first dig here was underwritten by Andrew Carnegie and the bones were shipped to Pittsburgh for museum display. Those first dinosaur skeletons were marked "from Jensen UT." The new center is basically a building covering the side of a huge hill, with dinosaur bones sticking out. We were able to touch bones that were 150 million years old.
This rock-climbing wall sure has plenty of grips! |
